Prayer

By unknown

I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do.

I had to hurry and get to work...For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees.

My Christian duty was now done My soul could rest at ease.....

All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer

No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry,

No time to give to souls in need But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes.

For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said "Your name I cannot find.

I once was going to write it down...But never found the time"

Now do you have the time to pass it on?

Pray before meals!

Its really nice habit to pray before meals. Many people in this world are not as blessed as we are; many are hungry without food or starving until death. We must always thank God for our daily food because he is our Provider and it’s also an opportunity to say a prayer and remember God for his blessings. The Bible tells us to " give thanks in everything and in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Scripture says to thank God:

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. Deuteronomy 8:10

Jesus prayed over a meal and blessed the food during Passover (Last supper) before he ate “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:26-29

Taking the five loaves and the two fish he (Jesus) looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people” Mark 6:41

After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. Acts 27:35

Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Col 3:17).

A simple Prayer:

Lord, we give you thanks from our hearts for our daily food. May it be used for the nourishment of our bodies and we bless the Lord who supplies all our needs. Lord bless all the people and animals with your food for you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. In Jesus name, Amen
