The Spirit of god which is the holy spirit convicts people of their sin , also comforts, speaks truth and testifies about Jesus Christ, brings righteousness corrects, reproves and instructs .The holy spirit has the ability to draw the sinner to repentance and comforts and helps us in our weaknesses, troubles and our prayers. Our responsibility is to genuinely repent, humble ourselves in confessing the sin, and ask for forgiveness from each other as well as from God. we see many verses regarding confessing sins

They rationalize and look for excuses to justify their sins. They make every attempt to justify their wrong doing and claim that there was nothing wrong in their doing.
