Why did Jesus say, "Why call me good, only God is good?"?

We see in the 3 gospels Matthew 19:16-17, Luke 18:19, Mark 10:17-18 Jesus said why called thou me good for there is none good but one that is God. So according to this God and Jesus are two different Beings? Did Jesus deny being God in Mark 10:18?Did Jesus say he was not good?. These are many questions will come to our mind.

If we carefully read these verses, we can clearly understand the true meaning of these verses.

Matthew 19:17 "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?[there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."

Matthew 19:21 "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me."

Matthew 19:22 "But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Jesus was simply questioning the young rich ruler's motives to consider the implications of calling Him good when he said No one is good except God alone .The Rich man was measuring the goodness of Jesus Christ according to merely human standard and was not able to achieve God's state of perfection. Rich man said “All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?” The young ruler "went away sad" (Mark 10:22) because he realized that although he had devoted himself in keeping the commandments but has failed to keep the first and greatest of the commandments “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength (Matthew 22:37-38)”. The man’s riches were of more worth to him than God, he was sad to give up his wealth. He thought he can enter eternal life by his own good works and by not completely following Jesus Christ Hence he was not considered as righteous in the eyes of God. Proverb 16:25 says , “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”. The scriptures says that it is difficult for a rich person to be saved. Matthew 19:24 "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Jesus pointed out that one cannot serve both God and money. One can follow 10 commandments but still they live spiritual defeated lives and have not OVERCOME the world still living in wicked ,greedy and hypocritical lives. Jesus declares Himself to be good “He is called the good shepherd in John 10:11. In Matt 20:15, Jesus said “ is your eye evil because I am good?' . Scripture say that He “was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15). “And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin” (I Jn. 3:5). Jesus is God (John 1:1; 20:28; Heb. 1:8; Rom. 9:5; 2 Pet. 1:1;1 John 5:20; etc.)Good Shepherd (John 10:11,14), Image of God (2 Cor. 4:4), Lord of lords (Rev. 19:16), Righteous One (Acts 7:52; 1 John 2:1), Wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:24),Word (John 1:1),Word of God (Rev. 19:13).

Also observe Col. 2:9 says , "For in Him [Jesus] all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form."

Col. 1:19, "For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,"

Phil. 2:6-8, "...although He [Jesus] existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Heb. 1:8, "But of the Son He says, “Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom."

Jesus is the incarnate Word (that was God) made flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9), found in appearance as a man, and that He humbled Himself to the point of death (Phil. 2:8). What we also need to understand is that He was made under the Law (Gal. 4:4) took on the form of a servant(Php 2:7) and He was made like unto sinful flesh(Rom 8:3 ) and He was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

3. Why do so many people hate Jesus? Jesus Christ "declares the FATHER" (John 1:18). And reveals the Father to whomever the Son desires (Matt. 11:27). Jesus was revealing the Father to his disciples in His whole ministry. God and Jesus are one. Jesus said, "I and [God] the Father are one!” Jesus always spoke in His own authority. He never said, “Thus saith the Lord…” as did the prophets; He always said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you…” He even asserted that “heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31). The words of Jesus are the very words of God.

Jesus Christ claimed to be the ONLY way to God, claimed to live a sinless life, have shared the glory of God in Heaven who is able to forgive sins and to give everlasting life. Jesus was “without sin” (Hebrews 4:15), holy and undefiled (Hebrews 7:26), the only One who “knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21).Scriptures testify that Jesus Christ is good and Lord of all(Acts 10:36). Jesus said, "Before Abraham was, I AM"? (John 8:58). He was also revealing HIMSELF as the God of the Old Testament. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made." (John 1:1-3). And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Consider the following scriptures carefully ,its clear that Christ was the God of the Old testament .

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 1:2, “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds:”

Acts2:36: Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. Also Jesus Christ himself said he was God in Luke 6:46: As He said, "Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" .

John 8:19 :Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

John 14:1-7 :“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going” Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

John 14:8-11:Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need." Jesus replied: Philip, I have been with you for a long time. Don't you know who I am? If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. How can you ask me to show you the Father? 10 Don't you believe that I am one with the Father and that the Father is one with me? What I say isn't said on my own. The Father who lives in me does these things. Have faith in me when I say that the Father is one with me and that I am one with the Father. Or else have faith in me simply because of the things I do.

John 10:22-30 :That winter, Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Temple Festival. One day he was walking in that part of the temple known as Solomon's Porch, and the people gathered all around him. They said, "How long are you going to keep us guessing? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly!" Jesus answered: I have told you, and you refused to believe me. The things I do by my Father's authority show who I am. But since you are not my sheep, you don't believe me. My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others. No one can snatch them from his hands, and I am one with the Father.

John 15:24 says : but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

Jesus was worshiped by Thomas (John 20:28), by Angels (Hebrews 1:6). by Wise men (Matthew 2:11), by A leper (Matthew 8:2), by A ruler (Matthew 9:18), by A blind man (John 9:38), An anonymous woman (Matthew 15:25), by Mary Magdalene (Matthew 28:9), by The disciples (Matthew 28:17).

4. When Jesus was worshiped, He never corrected His followers when they bowed down and worshiped Him. He never said, “Please, don’t worship me…only my Father should be worshiped.” . The words “only begotten” do not mean that Christ was created, or that He was in some way brought into existence by the Father. Rather, the Greek word for “only begotten” means “unique” or “one of a kind.” (Romans 9:5) “Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised. Amen.” (John 1:1) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (Titus 2:13) “...while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ...”

Some people will not come to Christ simply because they are ignorant of their need as sinners. The Pharisees of Jesus' day were classic examples of this self-ignorance. In Luke 18 Jesus boldly spoke a parable directed toward these hypocrites, who "trusted in themselves that they were righteous" (Luke 18:9). When the scribes and Pharisees murmured against Jesus for eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners, Jesus observed, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance" (Luke 5:31-32).

John 5:24 "He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." Whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

The reason they hate Jesus Christ is Many love darkness of sin rather than light of truth ( Jno. 3:19-21),their Pride causes them to reject him ( Psa. 10:4) and Some are Unwilling to obey and follow him in everything thing ( Jno. 7:16-17)and to come to the knowledge of truth.

If you believe, embrace Jesus Christ as Lord, then obey Him & have everlasting life (Jno. 12:48-50) and be good soldier of Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 2:3)!

Serving God for Financial profits!

There are many wicked men professing to be” men of God” these days who are con artists, selfish, deceivers, self-righteous, liars, obsessed for money. These people use our Lord Jesus Christ’s name, to con who are poor, meek, and needy in the name of serving God or serving the poor for their own greed and selfishness. They are only concerned in making money business to make their life and their loved ones better. They cheat people in the name of religion, in the name of churches exploit the name of Jesus to make money. These people beg money in the term of sowing financial seed to ministry or showing the slum children who live in poverty or in the form of donation. Too many churches have become nothing more than money making business centers.

These so called men of God are busy in accumulating wealth though their wicked tricks. Instead of fishing for men they cast their net and fish for material riches such as big cars, big homes, larger bank accounts, fame, wealth, prestige, money, power, authority, free travel around the world and an expensive lavish lifestyle. These preachers hardly know any poor and needy but their references are rich man who lives in luxurious. They know all the big and rich people of the city, instead of visiting the poor; they would rather visit the rich.

Scripture warnings about such people:

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." —Matthew 7:15

"Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation." —Luke 20:47

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness." -1st Timothy 6:10,11

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and in your name have cast out devils, and in your name done many wonderful works? AND THEN WILL I PROFESS UNTO THEM, I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, YOU THAT WORK INIQUITY." Matthew 7:22-23

True righteous person who walks on godly path will be poor, rejected, and suffers persecution for witnessing Christ and desiring to follow Godly ways. Bad things continually happen to them by these wicked ungodly people.

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.2 Timothy 3:12

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" Luke 9:23.

These wicked men who pretend to be Godly men hate to preach about truth ,sins, immorality, against the evils things in the world, 10 commandments, condemnation or judgment but preaches about money ,makes promises of health, wealth, and prosperity if one sends money in the form of donation or by planting a financial seed in their ministry, or by buying something from them. These are the believers who are lured into worldly things, they live and enjoy sin on daily basis and encourages others to live the same.

1John 3:4- 9 says "whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

Why Do Some Preachers Scream, Yell, Shout at the Top of Their Lungs?

We are to preach the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Christ commanded that true worshipers worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We are commanded by the Lord to receive teaching and admonish each other with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God making music in our heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph. 5:19-20.

Jesus taught profound truths in simple ways. Isaiah 42:2 says He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. Jesus spoke primarily to people’s minds and not to their emotions. God can hear our thoughts just as easily as He can hear our words (Psalm 139:23; Jeremiah 12:3).His preaching challenged people and convicted them and stirred them to faith and obedience. He nor his disciples never whipped up their emotions the way many preachers do nowadays crying at the top of their extreme voices, Clapping, jumping, shouting, running, uncontrollable Laughing , loud and noisy music continual "Amen’s" and "Praise the Lord with dramatic speaking rhythm that stir up emotions and excitement. Isaiah 33:19 says “you will see those arrogant people no more, those people of an obscure speech, with their strange, incomprehensible tongue”. They tend to focus perhaps too much on feelings and personal experiences rather than the bible. They are not true spiritual but motivate people by means of emotional excitement very similar to what attracts people to sports and games , rock concerts,Hollywood etc. They have a form of Godliness(2 Timothy 3:5 ). True Preaching is emotional restraint and self-control, not acting wild and crazy. Gods word says in Ezekiel 8:18 “Although they shout in my ears, I will not listen to them." The music of an unconverted, rebellious heart is to God an irritating noise. Because of their disobedience, God said to the children of Israel, “Take away from me the noise of your songs” (Am 5:23). What pleases God is neither the volume of the music nor volume of the tone but the condition of the heart. The “loud noise” in Bible times was not loud enough to harm people physically, leading others away from Christ instead of to Him.

“And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard” (Ezek26:13). Believers who live in peace with God have a

Constant song in their hearts, though the singing may not always be vocalized.

This is why the Psalmist says: “I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing

praise to my God as long as I live” (Ps 146:2; 104:33). Those Bible verses that speak about making “a joyful noise” or “a loud noise” unto the Lord do not teach us to praise God with excessive amplification of the human voice or musical instruments during the worship service. God defines music as melody not an entertainment, nor a talent show, nor a performance or a concert. It should be played skillfully without loosing control dedicated to please the Lord not the world where the listener should clearly understand the Gods message in it.

We need to sing with the spirit and understanding. (1 Cor. 14:15) and the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2.
The music should not sound like a mourning song. Here is what the scripture says in Ezra 3:13: No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.

I will turn your religious feasts into mourning and all your singing into weeping. Amos 8:10.

Yes I agree that we need to shout praises to our Lord but not until you tare your throat off hurting oneself and hurting others with amplifiers, microphone & 1000Watt speakers driving people away and making them deaf instead of controlling ourselves, we are encouraged to have emotional outburst. The Holy Spirit can also make intercession to God the Father for us(Romans 8:26) and Jesus gives warning saying “When you are praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think they will be heard because of their many words.” (Matthew 6:7)

The worship of God does not always require words, sounds, or loud actions. Habakkuk 2:20 says "But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him," Zephaniah 1:7: "Be silent before the Lord God!", and Zechariah 2:13, "Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord. There are times to speak to God and there are times simply to behold and adore Him in silence not bursting with extreme screaming. Learning to keep silent for extended periods of time can help us control our tongue all the time. Proverbs 17:27-28 relates the Christ like qualities of Godly knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to the power to rein in words: In James 1:19 also indicates a relationship between learning silence and learning control of the tongue: "But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak. In silence we learn to rely more on God's control in situations where we would normally feel compelled to speak, or to speak too much. People have been accused of not being spirit-filled because they do not raise their hands, sway, or clap their hands. While there may be nothing wrong with any of these things, they are evidences of emotion rather than evidences of the Spirit. People seek "a good time," enjoying the mood and excitement. But excitement does not equal spirituality. For they loved the Praise of men more than the praise of God." John 12:42-43. A true believer already understands that God's presence is always with him (Psalm 139:7; Matthew 28:20; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Thessalonians 4:8; 2 Timothy 1:14), and he doesn’t need to experience any type of physical sensation to prove it.

The Bible encourages us to: “Prove all things, hold fast to that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Even the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:15 “... judge for yourselves what I say.” 1 John 4:1 exclaims, “Beloved, BELIEVE NOT every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. God is not the author of confusion. The Bible says to be SOBER minded. Scriptures teach that Jesus practiced silence. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

Many people go to the church to listen and glorify their favorite Excited Preacher who is their performer not to plain word of God. The Pharisees were praying not to God, but to and for the people. Jesus so hated the Pharisees' hypocritical pretense, pretending to be so righteous and right all the time, that in the most bitter denunciation He ever uttered against anyone, He publicly told them, "WOE unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you make clean the OUTSIDE of the cup and of the plate, but WITHIN you are full of EXTORTION and FILTHINESS! You BLIND PHARISEE, clean first that which is WITHIN the cup and the plate, then the outside of them may be clean also!

"WOE unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like WHITE-WASHED TOMBS, which indeed look BEAUTIFUL on the OUTSIDE, but on the INSIDE are full of DEAD MEN'S BONES and EVERYTHING UNCLEAN! In the same way, on the OUTSIDE you APPEAR to others as RIGHTEOUS, but on the INSIDE you are full of HYPOCRISY and INIQUITY!" (Matthew 23:25-28) .

We are told to love God with all our hearts and also with all our minds. Jesus never shouted while preaching (Matt.12:19). Nor did He say “Hallelujah” every now and then in His messages.

Some false preachers boast about anything capturing and holding the attention of the hearers for an extended period of time by teaching simple truths in profound ways replacing sound biblical teaching with emotion-driven response .Those whose words are directed not to God, but to their hearers. Jesus warned against such behavior in Matthew 6:5-8 where he exhorts us not to be showy, long-winded, or hypocritical in our prayers, but to pray secretly in our own rooms in order to avoid the temptation of using prayer hypocritically. False Preachers have come into the churches with their books, music, literature, movies, psychology, and seminars, and have turned the Father's house into a den of thieves. There are some Preachers quit preaching against sins and some preachers themselves live in sin henceforth allowed sinners to stop feeling like sinners which allowed the sinner to continue to live in sin and justifying their sins hence they hardly repent for their sins.I am not here to condemn anyone but God's Word condemns all of us (Romans 3:19-23)

To many false preachers favorite verse is: Touch Not My anointed ones!

There are false preachers those who are perverting the gospel for gain and with false doctrines, and those who know Gods Word but choose to live in rebellion claim they are anointed ones” and pretend to have such “deep revelation knowledge”. When you rebuke the false teachings & sinful behavior of a false preacher they defend themselves saying Touch not mine anointed. These false anointed preachers get irritated by Christians who test their fruit as Christ commanded in Matthew 7:15-20. False teachers have come into the churches with their books, music, literature, movies, psychology, and seminars, and have turned the Father's house into a den of thieves. It is time that men of God stand up and expose their errors .The Bible says that we are to test their spirits, have NO FELLOWSHIP with them, REBUKE them, WITHDRAW from them, AVOID them, NOT to RECEIVE them into our house and We are to look out for those who preach another gospel. We also need to be aware that there are many false teachers who have been completely deceived by the Devil, who are not aware of their own error and therefore are very sincere in their belief that they are saying and doing the right thing. Paul tells Timothy, ‘Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.’ (2 Timothy 3:13) They will deny being false teachers and rigorously defend themselves as being true to God.

These are the marks of a false preacher or Teacher which the Bible gives warnings.

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 9)

For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:39-45)

Luke 6:26, 2 Peter 2:2 says, And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing.

In Colossians 2:8 Paul warned, Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

1 John 2:26-27 says, These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

1 John 4:1-6 says, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

2 John 7 says, For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

1 John. 2:4:He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

2 John 9 states, Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine , do not receive him into your house nor greet him;

If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, "Let us go after other gods"- which you have not known - "and let us serve them," you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the Lord your God . . . (Deuteronomy 13:1-5)

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. And if you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?" - when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)

An astonishing and horrible thing has been committed in the land: The prophets prophesy falsely , and the priests rule by their own power; and My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end? (Jeremiah 5:30-31)

Then the Lord said to me, "Do not pray for this people, for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence." Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Behold, the prophets say to them, 'You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.' And the Lord said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, 'Sword and famine shall not be in this land' - by sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!" (Jeremiah 14:11-15)

And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; they will have no one to bury them - them nor their wives, their sons nor their daughters - for I will pour their wickedness on them. (Jeremiah 14:16)

Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!" says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel against the shepherds who feed My people: "You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings," says the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:1-2)

And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten. (Jeremiah 23:40)

In Philippians 3:1-2 this warning is given: Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8-9)

I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! (Galatians 5:12)

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. (Acts 20:29-31)

Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees." And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have taken no bread." But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? - but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees. (Matthew 16:6-12)

Then He said to them in His teaching, "Beware of the Scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." (Mark 12:38-40)

In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known." (Luke 12:1-2)

Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,' that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation. Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered." And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him. (Luke 11:37-54)

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! (Matthew 18:6-7)

2 Peter 2:3 :"by covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words.

1 Peter 5:1-2 says, The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly.

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (Ephesians 5:5)

No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Luke 16:13)

Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so did their fathers to the false prophets. (Luke 6:26)

Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and note it on a scroll, that it may be for time to come, forever and ever: that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of the Lord; who say to the seers, "Do not see," and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." (Isaiah 30:8-11)

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. (2 Peter 2:18)

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. (Romans 16:17-18)

Jude 16....they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage

Matthew 23:27-28:Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees [Scribes, by the way, were the "scholars" of the day.], hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. (2 Peter 2:2)

Titus 1:16: They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.
